MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the organization is to inspire interest in art from both the University and town communities through the Edwin L. and Ruth E. Kennedy Museum of Art and to support Museum functions and activities.

ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

The Friends of the Kennedy Museum of Art (FKMA), formerly Friends of the Trisolini Gallery at Ohio University, was incorporated as the Friends of the Kennedy Museum of Art in 2017 as a not-for-profit corporation.

The goals of the organization address a) Education – to inspire interest in the arts and support the educational mission of the Kennedy Museum of Arts, b) Advocacy – to further interest in the arts and the Kennedy’s art mission, and, through c) Special Projects – designed to promote museum function and activities such as event programming, fundraising, and conservation and acquisition. Friends fundraising efforts include soliciting memberships, accepting donations and sponsoring art-related activities and sales. Through its fundraising efforts FKMA has been able to: contribute to Museum Acquisition funds and support Conservation of Collections, support local school access through student busing to the Museum, project support for students, access to purchasing supplies and items not usually accessible through university purchasing systems, hosting receptions and other support for a variety of Museum and FKMA events.
